Queen's University Archives
The H.C. Burleigh Papers, touching on over 900 local families, are the primary genealogical resource at the Queen’s University Archives. Ontario land registry copybooks are available for the counties of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington, Prince Edward, Leeds, Prescott, Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry and part of Hastings. Other valuable sources include the McDowell (Presbyterian) Register (1800-1841), city of Kingston records, assessment rolls for Kingston and Frontenac. The researcher can also consult records of the D.A. McRae and Sons funeral home at Vankleek Hill, plot cards and interment records for St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in Kingston, and the Ewan Ross Collection, Glengarry County. Microfilmed material include thousands of cemetery transcripts, copies of the Sir Frederick Haldimand Papers, Upper Canada Sundries, Upper Canada Heir and Devisee Commission records, Loyalist Studies Microfilm Project, and Ontario Probate and Surrogate Court records, 1763-1961.
